What Are HI Standards?
Established in 1917, HI is a nonprofit organization that serves as the premier trade association for manufacturers and suppliers of pumps and pumping systems in the United States and beyond. Based in Parsippany, New Jersey, the Hydraulic Institute represents more than 90 organizations, including manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers, who collectively embody a significant portion of the global pumping industry.
HI is recognized as the leading authority in creating and maintaining performance standards for pumps and pumping systems, and it is the sole organization accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to do so. Currently, HI has over 100 ANSI standards that encompass a wide range of pumping technologies and applications. These standards address critical aspects such as efficiency, durability, and safety, ensuring that manufacturers comply with the latest industry requirements.
