About ASQ and ASQ Standards
Founded on February 16, 1946, the American Society for Quality Control (ASQ) emerged from the collaboration of 253 members from 17 quality-related societies. Headquartered in Milwaukee, the organization’s roots can be traced back to the end of World War II when quality experts and manufacturers sought to preserve the effective quality-improvement techniques implemented during wartime. ASQ has since played a pivotal role in upholding these standards while advocating for continuous innovation in the quality field.
For over 75 years, ASQ has been at the forefront of providing enhanced expertise, professional networks, tools, and solutions to help its members advance their products, services, and industries. Additionally, they provide professional training, certifications, and knowledge to members globally.
In 2019, ASQ introduced ASQExcellence (ASQE), a non-profit organization that complements their existing efforts. ASQE is committed to expanding its certification programs and organizational memberships, ensuring continued growth and success for our members.
Presently, the organization has expanded its reach globally, with a membership that extends across more than 130 countries. Additionally, ASQ has established its global presence with service centers in Mexico, China, and India and strategic partnerships with various organizations.
