About AHRI and AHRI Standards
Founded in 2008, the Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) was created through the merger of the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) and the Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association (GAMA).
Based in North America, this trade association comprises manufacturers from the United States, Canada, China, Dubai, India, and Mexico, specializing in producing air conditioning, heating, and commercial refrigeration equipment.
Products with the AHRI Certified® mark have a proven track record of accurate and consistent performance. With over a century of research and development, regulators and consumers worldwide trust AHRI’s certification program for unbiased and precise equipment evaluation.
Today, AHRI maintains a dynamic portfolio of over 100 performance rating standards and guidelines for the HVACR and water heating industry. These standards and guidelines ensure consistency in manufacturer specifications, instill consumer confidence, and provide an objective and consistent evaluation framework for manufacturers, third-party laboratories, regulators, and certification bodies.
