Bisphenol A now toxic

Last week, the federal government added bisphenol A to the list of toxic substances in Schedule 1 of CEPA, thereby paving the way to developing regulations, guidelines, and codes of practice, under CEPA to manage the environmental and health risks associated with bisphenol A’s.

And the government published a new notice concerning bisphenol A in industrial effluents. The goal is to achieve the lowest level of release of bisphenol A to environment, as deemed technically and economically feasible. Manufacturers and users of such substances will have to come up and implement plans before December 31st 2016.

This proposed notice initiates a 60-days comment period, in order to produce the final notice.
