Library Updates Report – Newsletter

Report Functionality

The Library Updates Report is the name of Nimonik’s Newsletter. The Library Updates report shows select significant changes to documents in the jurisdictions, industrial sectors and topics you are subscribed to (not just the documents in your CO registers). For more information on the update process for the documents in the Nimonik library please visit this help page.

This report contains the following information:

  • Jurisdiction – The region in which the documents obligations apply
  • Change Type – The type of change that was made (Amendment, Repeal, New Version, Revised, New Document, Withdraw, Supersede. See change type definitions at the bottom of this page.)
  • Document – The document affected by the change 
    • Links directly to the document page
  • Essential – A gold star indicates that a document has been flagged as essential by Nimonik. An empty star indicates that a document has not been flagged as essential.
  • Document Status – The current in-force status of the document (published, proposed, in force, repealed)
  • Amending Document – The document bringing about the change
    • Links directly to the document page
  • Last Document Update – Notes about the change
  • Nimonik Publication Date – The date the change was published by Nimonik
  • Government Publication Date – The date that the change was published by the issuing authority
  • Effective Date – The date that it goes into effect

 

Two Ways to Access the Newsletter Library Updates Report

Nimonik has provided two options to receive/view Nimonik’s Library Updates Report newsletter:
  1. By Email
    • On the 3rd week of every month, you will be emailed a link to download Nimonik’s Library Updates Report. You can set your preferences for this email here, which allows you to filter for applicable content. You do not need to sign in to download this PDF.
  2. Directly on the Nimonik Platform

 

How to Generate Library Updates Report Directly on the Nimonik Platform

To generate the report, Click on Compliance Library–>Library Updates in the top menu. Then, simply set the filters as desired and click ‘Generate Report’.

You can filter the report by:

  • Change Type
  • Document Status
  • Jurisdiction
  • Publishing Authority
  • Topic
  • Date
  • Essential Status

You can export this report in multiple formats, including PDF (Newsletter), CSV, and Excel.

How to Receive Monthly Library Updates Report By Email

This report is also automatically emailed to all active users on the 3rd week of every month. You can customize this monthly email on your User Profile Page. These settings are configured individually for each user. If you have not been invited to join Nimonik or have not yet accepted the invitation to join Nimonik, you will not receive this email containing the newsletter report.

The filters on your User Profile Page allow users to tailor the content of the newsletter to better match their areas of interest. Once set up, this can greatly help reduce the amount of non-applicable content in the newsletter 

You can filter to include or exclude changes by:

  • Change type
  • Topic
  • Jurisdiction
  • Industrial sector
  • Document status
  • Publishing Authority (coming soon)
  • Essential status (coming soon)

You can also choose to receive the newsletter in your preferred language. Languages currently available are English, French and Chinese. You can also choose not to receive the monthly Library Updates Report by email by de-selecting the checkbox.

These settings are configured individually for each user.

Change Types

Amendment: Refers to a formal change or update made to an existing legal document, aiming to improve or clarify specific parts of the original text.

Repeal: When a law or regulation is officially revoked or canceled, rendering it no longer valid or enforceable.

New Version: A fresh edition of a document, usually updated to reflect changes or advancements, while maintaining its core purpose or structure. This change type is being progressively replaced with “Supersede”.

Revised: Describes a document that replaced a repealed document, often to incorporate significant changes or improvements.

New Document: A recently created legal text, addressing new needs or circumstances, distinct from any previous versions.

Withdraw: The action of formally retracting or removing a document or proposal from consideration, making it no longer effective or applicable.

Supersede:A newer document has been published, often to reflect changes or advancements; this document has a similar structure and purpose to an older document. Often used for standards.
