Custom Fields

Nimonik allows you to add additional context to your documents and clauses with custom fields.

Add Custom Fields

To add a new custom field to you compliance obligations, go to the edit page and click “Add a Custom Field”.

In the resulting modal, you will be prompted to enter the following information about your custom field.

  • Title: The title of the custom field. This appears as the column heading for the custom field.
  • Description: The description of the custom field. This text will appear if a user hovers over the custom field title in the CO
  • Type: This will determine the type of data that can be entered in the custom field. You can choose from the following types:
    • Text: Users can enter text
    • Date: Users can enter a date (YYYY-MM-DD)
    • User: Users can chose a user or team with access to the CO
  • Connected Status: If the “Share custom field across connected COs” checkbox is checked, the custom field will be visible (but not editable) in child documents created from this CO. If the checkbox is unchecked, the custom field will only be visible in this CO.

Once you click Save, the custom field will be added to the CO. The custom field title will also be added to the Edit page with the option to re-order, edit, or delete it. Please note that once a custom field has been created, its type cannot be edited.

Editing the Connected Status of Custom Fields

Changing the connected status of your custom fields will cause the following changes in your compliance obligations.

When you change an unconnected custom field to connected:

  • In the Parent: the position of the custom field will be changed on the edit page and in the CO (Connected custom fields are to the right of unconnected custom fields).
  • In the Child: The custom field that was connected will become visible, but not editable, and will show the current value in the parent CO.

When you change a connected custom field to unconnected:

  • In the Parent: the position of the custom field will be changed on the edit page and in the CO (Connected custom fields are to the right of unconnected custom fields).
  • In the Child: The unconnected custom field will no longer be visible. All other custom fields in the child will be unchanged.

Populate Custom Fields

In COs and CLCOs, custom fields will appear in the same order as they do on the edit page. Users can click on their contents to add information, or hover over their titles to see their descriptions.

By default all custom fields will show “…” until data has been added by users.
