Canada – Alberta

Amended document – Responsible Energy Development Act General Regulation
Amending document – Responsible Energy Development Act General Amendment Regulation

First effective date – 2021-01-01
Industry – general, mining and minerals, oil and gas

A change to this document has been announced. The effect of the changes is to consider the excavation of clay, silt or sand from a public land as an energy resource activity when the materials “are not to be sold or used for a purpose other than an energy resource activity”. The first effective date of the document that makes the change is January 1, 2021. More information about the change, including any additional effective dates, is available here.

Canada –  British Columbia 

Amended document –Riparian Areas Protection Regulation
Amending document – Riparian Areas Protection Regulation 2020-05-05 Amendments

First effective date – 2020-05-04
Industry – general

A change to this document has been announced. The effect of the changes is notably to consider registered biology technologists as qualified environmental professionals for the purpose of carrying out certain duties related to assessments under the Riparian Areas Protection Regulation. Canada –  Saskatchewan

Amended document – The Waterworks and Sewage Works Regulations
Amending document – The Waterworks and Sewage Works Amendment Regulations, 2020 

First effective date – 2020-04-16
Industry – general

A change to this document has been announced. The effect of the changes is notably to (1) exclude certain pipes from being designated as sewage works; (2) require manholes with access to water reservoirs to have a tight fitting cover that prevents water entry into the reservoir; (3) “change the requirement for an independent engineering assessment on waterworks from every five years to the timeframe indicated in the permit”. Denmark

New Principal document – Executive Order on Prohibition of Major Assemblies and on Access to and Restrictions on Premises and Locations in Covid-19 Handling
 
First effective date – 2020-05-18
Industry – general, office spaces, building management and maintenance

This legislation notably forbids to organize and participate to certain indoor and outdoor events and activities during the Covid-19 state of emergency. It also requires employees to comply with hygiene recommendations published by the National Board of Health and to wear gloves when selling and unpacking food.

Ireland

New Principal document – Dangerous Substances Act 1972 (Part IV Declaration) Order 2020
 
First effective date – 2020-04-23
Industry – general

This legislation notably sets out the criteria for flammable liquids considered as dangerous substances and subject to certain requirements under the Dangerous Substances Act, 1972 [IE-1972No.10].

Amended Document – 50 CFR 17 Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants
Amending Document: Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Endangered Species Status for Southern Sierra Nevada Distinct Population Segment of Fisher

First effective date – 2022-06-15

A change to this document has been announced. The effect of the change is to add the Southern Sierra Nevada Distinct Population Segment of fisher (Pekania pennanti) as an endangered species to the Federal List of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife.
