When subscribing to EHS Tracker, you have been able to select legislative “sectors”. These sectors included items such as Mining, Environment, Health and Safety, and others. A significant problem was that this classification system did not allow us to specify both a type of legislation (i.e. Health & Safety) and an applicable industry (i.e. Mining). We could filter by one type of sector only, with the resulting impact of a lack of granularity in updating our clients. Companies would receive both too much legislation and sometimes though rarely, too little. Today, we are happy to announce a new categorization system for our EHS legislation as well as a series of new categories to help you more effectively track applicable legislation for your site.
The Legislation Types now on tap at EHS Tracker are:
- Health & Safety
- Industrial Standards
- Proposed
- Other
- Hygiene
- Environmental
- Energy Conservation
- Notices
- Conservation
- Maritime
- Food preparation
The Industrial Sectors, which you can subscribe to at EHS Tracker are now:
- Agrobusiness
- Printing
- Chemical Production
- Mining
- Medical Facility
- Transportation
- Forestry & Pulp and paper
- Financial
- Oil & Gas Production
- Public Entities
- Office
- Construction
- General Industry
Each Legislation Type and Industrial Sector have a price based on the quantity, complexity and update frequency of the legislation in question. We are also asking our users to help us identify mis-categorized legislation as we continue to strive to improve our tracking solution. EHS Tracker contains over 3000 pieces of legislation in 35 different jurisdictions, so keeping all of this in order is a moving target.
