Water charges in force in Quebec

By ,

The Regulation respecting the charges payable for the use of water came into effect on January 1, 2011. The regulation imposes a charge on industries that use at least 75 m3 of water/day. A $70 rate per million litres of water used or withdrawn will apply to the establishments fabricating or conceiving: bottled water, juice and beverages, agricultural products, non-metallic mineral substances, inorganic chemical substances and oil and gas extraction. A $2.50 rate per million litres of water will apply to all other sectors using 75 m3 or more water per day.

All charges collected under the RCPUW will be given to the Green Fund.
